Brantho-Korrux “3 in 1” – Universal one-component corrosion protection coating

Brantho-Korrux “3 in 1” is a high-quality, environmentally friendly, single-component industrial coating with proven performance in the construction, infrastructure, transport and industrial sectors. The product combines a primer, intermediate coat and top coat, significantly reducing processing time and costs without compromising protection. It is designed for use on a wide range of surfaces in various service classes, including C5-M according to DIN EN ISO 12944.

Chemical composition and ecological properties

The product is based on polyester resin with active, multi-stage rust-inhibiting pigments, which provide excellent corrosion protection. The composition is completely free of lead, zinc, chromium and aromatic hydrocarbons such as toluene and xylene. The product meets the strictest environmental safety criteria (DIN ISO 14001, EMAS) and is classified as A+ emission class according to French indoor air quality standards.

Physical properties

• Gloss level: Semi-matte (25–55%), depending on pigment
• Solids content: ~70% by weight, ~53% by volume
• Density: 1.2–1.5 g/cm³ (varies depending on pigment)
• VOC content: Less than 400 g/l, depending on the addition of diluent
• Electrical conductivity: Suitable for use on the exterior of fuel tanks

Drying and curing parameters

At 20 °C and 65% relative humidity:

• Dry to the touch: 20-30 minutes
• Complete drying: 8–10 hours
• Complete hardening: 3–4 days
• Maximum mechanical strength: 7–10 days

The product is not suitable for thermal drying (no oven drying option), however, over time, the hardening improves, improving adhesion even after several days.

Coating thickness and consumption

• Theoretical coverage: 8.8 m²/l at 60 µm dry film
• With mio pigments (e.g. RAL 9006, DB701): thicknesses of up to 120 µm can be achieved in one layer
• Drying time may be longer for thicker layers, but this improves corrosion protection capabilities.

Application methods and conditions

• Brush/roller: Ready to use without dilution
• Airless spraying: Nozzle 0.5–0.7 mm, pressure ≥160 bar, dilution ~3%
• Air spraying: Nozzle 2.0–2.5 mm, pressure 4–5 bar, dilution ~10%
• HVLP/Airmix: Dilution up to 15% is permissible
• Immersion: Regularly stirring the surface to be treated, especially suitable for production mode

Optimal application temperature: from +15 °C to +25 °C; permissible: -10 °C to +30 °C. At low temperatures, it is recommended to use warm material or solvent.

Suitable surfaces

The coating can be applied to:

• Iron, steel, stainless steel, zinc, aluminum, copper
• For old coatings, rust, concrete, tar, glass
• For many hard plastic materials (ABS, PS, PC, GRP, etc.)
• Anodized aluminum, galvanized metal (with pre-treatment)

Not suitable for use on soft plastics such as PE, PP or soft PVC.

Resistance properties

The product withstands prolonged contact with:

• Salt water, UV radiation, moisture condensation
• For fuels, hydraulic oils, antifreeze, chemicals
• For temperature loads up to 300 °C (above 120 °C – visual fading possible)

Certification and testing

Brantho-Korrux “3 in 1” is tested and certified according to:

• DIN EN ISO 12944 – corrosion protection in all 6 classes (C1 to C5)
• NORSOK M-501 – 4200 h test cycle (UV, salt spray, thermal loads)
• TÜV SÜD, DEKRA – approvals as a replacement for epoxy, PVC and red lead coatings
• BASt / TL 918300 – for use in road infrastructure facilities
• EN 71-3 – suitable for painting toys (saliva/sweat safety)
